Lu Villaça is a Brazilian film director with a background in cinema, performing arts and a postgraduate degree in screenwriting from NYU.
Her work reflects a deep passion for humanity, storytelling and movement, seamlessly blending these elements to visually bold and emotionally resonant films.
Wheter through the lens of dance, sports or thought-provoking narratives, her projects are imbued with purpose and creativity, always attentive to the impacts and socially meaningful layers of her work.
In 2019, Lu made her great debut in commercial directing: the project won 3 Cannes Lions, Best Direction award at El Ojo and Ciclope Latino Festivals, where she was also recognized as Best New Talent. “Next Minute Law”, a film for the awareness of the Brazilian sexual violence scenario, was the first brick building her deeply women-centric style.
Since then, she has continued to create award-winning work across advertising, short films and music videos.
